Let's
keep our CD See our Fall schedule below! New Song Premiers to Honor the Courage of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered Service Members We have great news! We have recorded Carolyn’s first original song! We had planned to record the song on our next CD but response to it in concert has been so overwhelming that we decided to go ahead and cut a single rather than wait. “A Soldier’s Heart” is a Limited Edition CD Single, written and sung by Carolyn to honor Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) service members and veterans. The freedoms they defend come at a tremendous price, because the anti-homosexual military policy denies the gay and lesbian service member the most basic freedom of all. “Marshall’s songwriting and original music bring a unique magic to the compelling story about GLBT soldiers serving in silence. She captures their courage and bravery as they face the brutality of war, fighting to defend freedoms that they do not share.” Wrote one publicist… Don’t wait to get your copy! ”A Soldier’s Heart” is a limited edition CD and available for a $25 donation to Marshall-Grant Ministries. Copies can be obtained on our web site www.marshallgrantminsitries.org or by mail. Marshall-Grant Ministries, Inc... Contact us ASAP to set a date!! So much has happened lately... Good stuff and not so good stuff... Let's start with the not so good... As the war continues, our service members are being targeted on a daily basis. Violence is everywhere we turn. I fear we tire of the constant news reports. It is so easy to become numb to the pictures of burned out cars and homes on our TV screens. Then the recent hurricanes that hit the Gulf... yet more images of destruction on the six o'clock news. It all seems so unreal... yet we know it is all too real, don't we? We have found ways to help... I get weekly emails from UFMCCs Region 2 about the care packages and caravans to the devastated areas. Yet it still seems so overwhelming... But there are things we can do... As horrific as the sickening scenes of devastation may be, people have come out of the woodwork to help. We have seen a wave of charity in the US that I have never experienced before. It was our privilege to see what different cities were doing to help Katrina victims as we traveled through the west. In Denver, we saw a group of volunteers clean and refurbish a college dormitory in 24 hours for evacuees. In Albuquerque we saw a neighborhood fill the new home of an evacuated family with furniture and every household items they could possibly need. In another city we saw local business owners, creating jobs for hurricane victims. And the list could go on and on... Our own MCCers have worked hard to contribute money and supplies. So IF there can be a silver lining to the devastation left by mother nature, I'd have to say it's that we have been reminded of how small we are in the grand scale of the universe. And most importantly, we have reached out to our fellow human beings in kindness. And isn't that what God wants us to do? I think so... "What does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8b |
